Kazakhstan Approaches 1 Million Tons of Vegetable Oil Production
In the first 11 months of the current season, Kazakh oil mills increased vegetable oil production by 21% — to over 932 thousand tons, getting close to the 1 million ton milestone.
Kazakh oil mills produced over 932 thousand tons of vegetable oils in the first 11 months of the current season. This is 21% more compared to the same period of the previous season, according to the National Association of Oilseed Processors (NAOP).
The highest growth was observed in rapeseed oil production, with its output increasing by 76% compared to the previous season. Production of unrefined sunflower oil grew by 24%, while refined sunflower oil increased by 5%, reaching 156 thousand tons.
NAOP attributes this positive trend to the expansion of sown areas for oilseed crops, the development of domestic processing, and the strengthening of Kazakhstan's export positions in the global vegetable oil and fat market.
As reported earlier, according to the Bureau of National Statistics, more than 5.179 million hectares were sown with oilseeds in Kazakhstan in 2026 — 30% more than the previous year.
Kazakhstan is also increasing exports of fat and oil industry products. At the end of 2025, the country ranked 6th in the world for sunflower oil exports, while NAOP has set a goal to enter the top three global exporters.
In addition, the country is among the top three suppliers of sunflower meal to the European Union, ranks second in sunflower oil supplies to China and third in sunflower meal exports to the Chinese market, while remaining the largest supplier of vegetable oils to Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, and supplying sunflower meal to other Central Asian countries as well.
